Position Summary

Plug Power Inc. is actively seeking a highly motivated Intern. The Intern will be responsible for assisting the Electrolyzers Department in a wide variety of initiatives and projects in support of the department’s goals. In this role, you will gain exposure to a fast-paced manufacturing and engineering environment which includes developing a detailed understanding of Plug Power’s products. The role will focus on the successful completion of technical projects, process improvement, documentation, and presentation of results at the end of the program.

Project Summary

  • 2023 summer engineering intern to help in electrolyzer testing laboratory. To meet the growing demand for green hydrogen, we need to build electrolyzer test stations to qualify new materials, methods and vendors as part of our research and development efforts.
  • These small test stations are designed and built in-house at our state-of-the-art electrolyzer development facility in Concord MA. A summer 2023 intern would work closely with Plug scientists and engineers to help with all aspects of test station development, including plumbing, wiring, and frame assembly. The intern will also participate in other activities in the electrolyzer laboratory, including component preparation and cell assembly, leak testing and electrolyzer stack operation

Core Duties And Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of all Plug Power products
  • Work with senior level engineers and management to interpret and analyze data
  • Assist in developing engineering processes with guidance from senior level engineers and management
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to sufficiently make minor repairs as necessary
  • Ability to independently set up experiments and monitor progress
  • Understand engineering concepts and how to appropriately apply them in day-to-day projects
  • Ability to critically analyze data in terms of system performance and reliability
  • Represent Plug Power in a professional manner at all times and in all interactions
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Education and Qualification

  • Working on bachelor’s degree in chemical, mechanical or electrical engineering
  • Interest in hydrogen technologies and electrochemical testing
  • Desire to work hands-on constructing electrolyzer test stations (plumbing, wiring, mechanical)
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Computer and software systems skills as applicable to position including but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task effectively
  • Demonstrated analytical abilities with strong attention to detail
  • Must possess the highest ethical standards and a commitment to work quality
