Work Schedule
Student should be available to work several days per week, Monday through Friday within normal business hours (8am-5pm). Actual days and hours will be determined every semester, per mutual agreement.
Job Summary
Under direct supervision, Student Assistants perform duties ranging from unskilled to skilled and/or specialized, in a variety of positions that typically require the use of manual, clerical, public contact, and/or analytical skill. Assignments have limited use of discretion and judgment. Work is regularly reviewed and may entail detailed instructions. Specific job duties are defined by the appropriate campus department.
The Office of Graduate Studies serves 61 masters and 2 doctoral programs at CSUF. Our office is dedicated to moving graduate students to timely completion of their degrees through student support and mentoring programs, and access to state-of-the-art technology. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our Graduate Studies team as the Graduate Studies Student Assistant. Position Summary
The Office of Graduate Studies is looking for a Student Assistant to work in the front office. The Graduate Studies Student Assistant will be responsible for being the first point of contact for all guests contacting Graduate Studies and in-person guests for Academic Programs & Enrollment. Other administrative duties may be assigned, as needed.
The Student Assistant applying for this position needs to be highly responsible, dependable, well-mannered, and responsive to the needs of students, staff, and faculty. The Student Assistant should also have excellent organizational and communication skills.
Duties
- Greets in-person visitors and acts as the first point of contact for in-person guests.
- Answers questions via telephone, email, and in-person pertaining to student or faculty concerns and policies and direct inquiries appropriately
- As needed administrative tasks (forms processing, mass mailings, and copying)
- Other tasks as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.
Required Qualifications
- Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
- Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
- In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
- Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.
