Assists in the operation of UAB Callahan Eyewear by professional dispensing of eyeglasses and frames, inventory control, including ordering procedures, and other processes related to the operation of a retail optical dispensary. The position is required to greet customers of UAB Callahan Eyewear , properly ascertain their optical needs, assist the customer in the appropriate selection of frames, lenses, and other accessories and options, appropriately price the prescribed merchandise, and assure appropriate collection of payment. The position is required to maintain a customer friendly attitude at all times, and may be required to work extended hours, if deemed necessary to provide adequate hours of operations. The position reports to the Manager of UAB Callahan Eyewear .
Salary Range: $15.50- $23.50
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in dispensing eyeglasses desired
- Accuracy, thoroughness, and understanding of insurance, copay and referral procedures
- Routine office equipment and computer systems and software operation experience necessary
- Must be able to communicate effectively with the public and maintain confidentiality
