Background:

Gavi Alliance Immunization project is completing an evidence synthesis by reviewing information from 68 Gavi-supported countries and conducting case studies in up to 12 case studies in 12 countries on Gavi funded pro-equity interventions with associated reflections on how to adjust those interventions based on available evidence to effectively reach ZD children (“zero-dose children” i.e. children who have not received any routine under-five immunizations) and missed communities. The project main objectives are

1. Document and learn more about the types of pro-equity interventions that have been or are being used by countries across the IRMMA framework and ERG settings.
2. Generate robust evidence on rationale for utilization, critical success factors, challenges and, if possible, effectiveness of 12 pro-equity interventions that can be used to identify, reach, monitor and measure, and advocate for ZD children and missed communities.
3. Generate 12 case studies on Gavi funded pro-equity interventions with associated reflections on how to adjust those interventions based on available evidence to effectively reach ZD children and missed communities.

Scope of Work:

The Health Services Research division is seeking individuals with immediate availability to assist in the completion of a series of in-depth interviews and other qualitative data collection and synthesis activities. These interviews are centered around how countries have reached “zero-dose” children and under-immunized communities in Pakistan.

In particular, this role will conduct in-depth interviews with identified key informants in Pakistan to understand how the country successfully reduced the number of “zero-dose children” (i.e. children who have not received any routine under-five immunizations). These interviews will serve as the primary data points for case studies.

Responsibilities:

• Schedule interviews with respondents identified by the project team
• Conduct in person, in-depth interviews with respondents in-country, using an interview guide developed by the project team (some road travel may be required; travel costs will be reimbursed)
• Record interview and provide audio file and transcript to project team
• Write an interview summary in English, using a template provided by the project team
• Collect and summarize background documents
• Participate in pre-interview orientation meeting with project team
• Participate in up to two one-hour meetings with writers for consultation

Qualifications:

• Experience with qualitative data collection, particularly conducting in-depth interviews
• Familiarity with immunization programs in low- and middle-income countries preferred
• Ability to work on a focused activity independently
• Organized and detail-oriented
• English fluency required
