Were you ever inspired by a naturalist you met as a child? Now its your turn to be that inspiration for today’s youth. This position entails working with several education staff to introduce Alaskan school students to the Kenai Fjords National Park. Early and late season duties include working in classrooms and in the field at Exit Glacier and at a marine intertidal area with students. Summer season involves programming with elder hostels and youth groups (Girls Scouts, Boy Scouts, Youth Conservation Corps,Teen Youth Center, Science and Art Camp, Adventure Hiking Club, 4-H and summer school) as well as giving programs to visiting public. Candidates will also work with a group of local teens to mentor them in National Park Service Youth Conservation Corps programs.For the candidate that is motivated and enthusiastic about education there is an opportunity to build a program or two from scratch. Compensation benefits
- $350 – weekly living allowance
- $1,300 – one time RT travel allowance,

The Kenai Fjords National Park is located in the heart of a wilderness paradise.
- Training Provided
The Education Assistant will hit the ground running with the first couple of weeks of watching and assisting in programs. In May, 5-10 days of interpretive training will be provided.
