About the Research Intern Role:

Sands Capital is seeking a motivated Technology/Data Science Intern to support our Technology Team, working across our product teams. As a Technology/Data Science Intern, you will have the opportunity to help collect, structure, and analyze datasets using analytical, statistical, programming and visualization skills to produce valuable business insights.

Our internship program serves to identify motivated and talented undergraduates who will gain relevant skills and knowledge through the internship.

This role is expected to work from our Arlington, VA office on a hybrid schedule at a minimum of two days per week in office or as directed, depending on team needs. Please know that the hybrid schedule is subject to change, as directed by our Executive Management Team, at any time.

Position Responsibilities:

Coordinating project activities with your assigned manager, including but not limited to:

• Extracting usable data from data sources;
• Preprocessing, cleansing, and validating the integrity of data to be used for analysis;
• Building data models and dashboards using data visualization tools;
• Conducting research on machine learning tools, industry trends and business applications;
• Executing on other administrative or professional responsibilities, as needed; and
• Exhibiting behaviors consistent with Sands Capital’s mission, values, and culture.

Skills and Qualifications:

• 2nd or 3rd year undergraduate students in STEM programs interested in exploring a career in technology supporting the investment management industry
• A genuine and demonstrable interest in data modeling, analysis, and visualization
• Familiarity with programming languages and visualization tools (Python, R, Plotly, Power BI, Tableau or similar) a plus
• Superior verbal and written communication skills
• Exceptional work ethic and ability to complete assignments on time with limited supervision
