Legal Intern

RES is the nation’s largest and most experienced provider of ecological restoration and water resource solutions. To date, we have restored over 294 stream miles and 58,000 wetland acres and conserved and preserved 9,100 acres of endangered species habitats. RES operations include planting over 14,000,000 restorative trees and reducing over 250 tons of polluting nutrients. RES ecological solutions enable a of balance economic development and ecological sustainability.

RES is currently accepting applications for the position of Legal Intern, based out of our Houston office or remote .

• Assist the Legal Team with a variety of legal matters faced by the company, including commercial contracts, building business practices, real estate agreements, land closings, etc.
• Assist the Legal Team in the preparation of legal documents for review, approval, and use by counsel.
• Conduct legal research on a variety of legal topics, including regulatory matters, real estate matters, etc.
• Review and provide input on documentation and agreements.
• Respond to requests in a timely fashion.
• Locate documents within the company in response to document requests.
• Pursue a comprehensive understanding of the company and its operations.
• Participate in the maintenance of databases for the Legal Team.
• Currently pursuing a Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
• Completion of 1st or 2nd year of law school.
• Able to work at least 10 hours per week.
• Interested candidates should possess strong analytical, writing, and communication skills, and have an interest in the intersection of law and ecological restoration.
• Excellent legal research and writing skills.
• Detail oriented, and strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Self-starter with the ability to learn in a fast-past environment with minimal supervision.
• Able to have regular interaction via telephone, Zoom or similar videoconferencing platform, Zoom chat or similar platform, and email with Legal Group Members and other company representatives.
