Software Engineer / Cloud Automation
Team:
We are part of a database deployment infrastructure team of approximately 45 people. We work in smaller agile groups. Our group is leading the way to transform database infrastructure into infrastructure as a code in Google Cloud Platform. We are developing and supporting deployment into Google Cloud from the current on premises infrastructure. We are implementing solutions in GCP that have never been implemented before.
Job responsibilities
- Contribute to the database infrastructure codebase: Python, Shell, Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible
- Adhere to clean code rules and participate in code reviews
- Create documentation outlining the engineering artifacts
- Participate in stability efforts for the engineered solutions
Preferred Requirements
- Passionate about coding everything
- Linux: Active Linux power user, bash
- Knowledge of git code versioning subsystem
- Have worked with databases in some capacity
Nice to have:
- Passionate about Linux / shellcheck
- Python knowledge, linting and formatting: PEP 8, PEP 257
- Working with popular python IDEs: vs code, PyCharm
- Interested in Infrastructure as a code paradigm: Terraform or CloudFormation
- Familiar with CI CD pipelines: We use Jenkins
- Knowledge of containers and Kubernetes
- Other automation technologies: Ansible/Puppet
- Additional languages such as Java/Golang knowledge is always a plus
