Manufacturing Engineering Intern Job Description

The manufacturing engineering intern works with manufacturing team to develop and improve manufacturing processes by learning products and manufacturing methods. This scope includes manufacturing process improvement, Lean manufacturing, tool development and assembly processes.

Responsibilities And Duties

Under general supervision will perform the following tasks:

• Evaluates manufacturing processes by observing operators to conduct studies on machining, assembling, tooling, fixturing and applying product knowledge.
• Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
• Assist manufacturing in development of fixtures and shop-aids.
• Develop process documentation, work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOP).
• Contribute in problem solving and continuous improvement projects.
• Participate in Lean manufacturing activities including kaizen, standardized work, time studies, and work balance studies.
• Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, summarizing data trends for team decision making.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements And Skills

Enrollment in an Engineering degree program
