Basic Purpose
Enterprise Supply Operations & Logistics exists to provide comprehensive solutions. Our services fulfill a range of simple to complex needs, and involve the coordination of various people, consumables, assets, and transportation. As an employee-powered team, we drive forward a service strategy involving warehousing & distribution, shipping & receiving, document storage & disposal, physical property & assets control, and branch & campus support services. Navy Federal Membership is growing rapidly, and the field of supply chain logistics is continuously evolving. We keep members and team members at the forefront of everything we do, taking advantage of data insights, and industry best practices to stay agile and continuously improve processes to ensure an optimal experience.
The Summer Intern opportunity will take a journey to explore relevant Supply Operations & Logistics processes that can be leveraged into research and analysis which will culminate in a value-added project among other things. The role will begin with a robust orientation of the operations followed by a soft integration into the requisition processes where knowledge and understanding of fundamental processes can be established. Building from there, the functions of inventory control will be explored to arrive at a full understanding of the supply chain scope.
Potential Projects
- A new warehouse is currently under construction on campus. The warehousing dynamics between the existing warehouse and new warehouse will change considerably. In particular, there will be more opportunity for higher volume of inventory and more diverse stock. Create an inventory transition plan for the new warehouse.
- Coming out of the pandemic, there is an appetite for new business continuity related inventory. Create proposal for the specific stock and non-stock items that need to be maintained and the associated inventory control plans for those items.
- As the supply chain crisis has affected many businesses, there may be some need to leverage procurement communications and vendor relationships to provide insight on opportunities for optimizing services and consolidating sourcing to ensure maximum savings and support from our vendors. Shipping rates will play a role in this evaluation as well. Deliver recommendations in order to identify best practices for optimizing cost and service levels.

Responsibilities
- Assess the current inventory landscape, perform audits, and research industry trends and best
practices
- Analyze inventory data in conjunction with relevant suppliers and internal demand to identify areas of
opportunity and then create recommendations to decision makers
- Create business continuity recommendations
- Evaluate supply of business-critical stock and influence purchasing decisions
- Develop control limits and re-order points
- Present proposal on findings from analysis and research to leadership
- Become integrated into and participate in the day-to-day strategy, analysis, and operations of the
team
Qualifications
- Must be pursuing an undergraduate or higher degree from an accredited college/university
- An understanding of supply chain logistics
- Quick and agile learner
- A high level of service orientation and integrity
- Experience with research, analysis, and data manipulation
- Experience using MS Office with heavy emphasis on Excel
- Good communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently and think outside of the box
- Strong strategic, critical, and analytical thinking skills
Work Environment
Most work is conducted in an air-conditioned warehouse setting and reports to leadership at our Pensacola, FL campus. Evaluation of additional spaces on our campus may be necessary. Occasional exposure to labor-intensive environments may be required. If any personal protective equipment is required, Navy Federal will furnish all such equipment.
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00AM – 4:30PM (Subject to change based on business need)

Navy Federal is now hybrid! Our standard enterprise requirement for a hybrid schedule is to report on-site 4-16 days each month. The number of days reporting on-site will ultimately be determined by the employee’s leadership and business unit needs. You will learn more throughout the hiring and on boarding process.
Salary Range: $15.00 – $30.10 Hourly
Navy Federal Credit Union assesses market data to establish salary ranges that enable us to remain competitive. Within this range, pay will be determined based on factors such as individual qualifications, location, and market position.
