About Trust Consultancy and Development

Trust Consultancy and Development is an independent research and a third-party monitoring and evaluation consultancy based in Gaziantep, Turkey, with offices in Pakistan (Islamabad) and Iraq (Erbil). Trust provides a range of services and works with partner companies and NGOs in the MENA region and beyond.

Our work addresses the growing demand for high-quality research, third party research, data collection and capacity building services. Aside from our independent research institution, we offer third party consultancy services and our clients include UNICEF, UNFPA, OCHA, GIZ, Expertise France, Global Communities, IRC, IMC, DCA, Save the Children, People in Need, World Vision, Norwegian Refugee Council and Samaritan’s Purse. As a research and monitoring and evaluation company with capacity building built into our Organisation, we offer a unique perspective and can tap into a network of people working on the ground in real time on the issues we research. Currently, we are working in Syria, Turkey, Iraq, Yemen, Pakistan, Afghanistan, among others. Our head office is in Gaziantep, Turkey, with offices in Pakistan and Iraq.

About the internship position

  1. This is a 4–6-month remote full-time internship
  2. During this internship the intern will go through all phases of third-party monitoring projects
  3. Before joining a team in Trust, the intern will receive:
    1. One week admin orientation
    2. One-week technical orientation (commercial proposal writing: monitoring and evaluation proposals)

In the orientation weeks all interns will be introduced to the departments of Trust and a time to get to know one another, even though Trust works primarily in a remote setting, we organize weekly social gatherings online, namely Trust Cafes!

  1. After orientation, the intern will join a team in our TPM and research department: During one half of the internship, the intern will thus be our Proposal Writing Team, and in the other half, in our M&E team. Some interns may still in one team through the whole internship.
    1. In each team, the intern will have an assigned line manager.
  2. When possible, the intern will join projects relevant to his/ her preferred humanitarian sectors (education, health, protection, food security, livelihood, WASH, social cohesion,), preferred themes and modalities (gender, disability, cash and voucher assistance, ….), preferred countries (Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Libya, Afghanistan,…)
  3. When possible, interns will be able to focus on specific countries

Tasks and responsibilities

Interns will be involved in some or all of the following tasks, depending on preferences, capacities and projects we have in Trust at the time. The tasks will be discussed and agreed with their line managers. Some of the tasks can include:

  1. Scoping new opportunities/searching for TORs
  2. Commercial proposal writing (monitoring and evaluation)
  3. Data analysis; quantitative and qualitative
  4. Report writing
  5. Data collection tools design
  6. Data collection
  7. Data/report visualization
  8. Other
    1. based on the interns’ interests/experience and needs in Trust: this can include support to media, digital marketing, arranging for webinars, training materials preparation, training delivery,….

Candidate profile and qualifications

The ideal candidate for this position:

  1. Has a desire to work in the humanitarian/ development sector and companies that serve the humanitarian sector
  2. Is currently studying a university degree, or hold a University Degree or relevant qualifications in the humanitarian or development sector. A master’s degree in the humanitarian or development sector is an asset
  3. Speak fluent English. Arabic, Turkish, Kurdish or Persian (Farsi) would be an asset
  4. Have excellent written and verbal communications skills
  5. Knowledge/experience in the Middle Eastern region is an asset
  6. Familiarity with humanitarian sector/ NGOs/ donors is an asset
  7. Experience in data collection/ data analysis is an asset
  8. Familiarity with international cultures as our team is from the four corners of the globe.

Trust Consultancy is a small but growing consultancy with great success since it was established in 2016. This is an unpaid internship. However, our interns will get the following benefits:

  1. Gain hands on experience in the area of their interest; many of our interns were involved in projects during the first week they joint Trust.

  3. Networking: during your internship you have a chance to communicate with stakeholders externally and internally (NGOs, donors, consultants). In addition, Trust has a LinkedIn Alumni group were all those who worked and still working in it joins, so they keep communicating with each other for possible works/ assignments.
  4. Communication and presentation skills: our interns have the opportunity to organize internal and external webinars, arrange for debates, and organize social events.
  5. Possible work with Trust: future employment with Trust depends on your performance and our organization’s needs. There will be opportunity to work with Trust after your internship; as an officer, technical consultant, full time or part time, or task-based assignments. More than 80% of our team started with Trust as interns, including the current CEO who was one of the NOHA interns and many other project managers and project officers. After this internship and based on your performance and the company needs, we might offer you a full time/ part time position or task-based assignments.
  6. Field work experience: if you are asked to be involved in the field work with travel, Trust is responsible for all expenses such as accommodation, travel, per diem. Many of our interns travelled within Turkey, Kurdistan, Libya and Jordan as part of their internship where they collected data, coordinated trainings, and presented our work.
  7. Combining internship with thesis; this internship is a great opportunity to select an MA thesis/topics related to the Trust work; so, Trust can support you in linking to respondents for your field work/ interviews, include questions about your research in its projects, support in data collection and data analysis. Many of our ex-interns did their MA thesis during or after internship with joint supervision from NOHA and Trust.
  8. With support from your line manager, you will learn analytical methods of quantitative and qualitative data. All interns will be provided with trainings on such methods and will be supported and guided by their line managers throughout.
  9. Better experience in external communication with external stakeholders.
