We are looking for a Junior Data Scientist who can be part of enabling us to do so. The successful candidate will ideally already have experience working with financial data. They will have an entrepreneurial mindset and be excited to colour outside the lines and wear whatever hat needs wearing to get the job done.

Requirements
Upper second-class degree or higher in a quantitative field such as mathematics, physics, or computer science
Highly proficient in Python and data science toolkits including NumPy, Pandas, PyTest, etc
Understanding of machine learning techniques, such as clustering, classification, and regression
Good, applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, etc
Has a genuine passion for investments and financial markets
Strong communication skills both verbally and in writing

What The Job Involves
Develop performant analytics code in python within our proprietary map reduce plugin infrastructure to be directly integrated into our products and services
Build, maintain and scale efficient processes to extract, transform and load clients’ portfolio and trade data
Analysing trade, process, and emotional data to identify fund managers’ actual decision-making biases leading to sub-optimal trades
Liaising with domain experts to codify methodologies in production ready python code
Explore new data sets and new analytical approaches to help our clients identify behavioural patterns and the root causes of such behaviour
Play an integral part in developing this early-stage start-up’s operations and culture

Our Tech Stack

We use a range of technologies in our stack across the front-end and back-end:
React, TypeScript, JavaScript, Next.js, D3.js, and Tailwinds power our front-end web application. We make extensive use of React Hooks and functional components, Redux for state management, and use Jest and React Testing Library for testing
Serverless powers almost of all our infrastructure from on-demand analytics services to front end deployments
Python powers our analytics infrastructure to identify investment decision making patterns and run complex calculations and algorithms against large datasets
A mix of relational database technologies including Aurora DB (MySQL)
A continuous deployment and integration process based on Bitbucket pipelines
