THE PROJECT

Mubaderoon 2 aims to contribute to the economic integration and social inclusion of youth, women and refugees in the poorest communities of the project regions. The target group for Mubaderoon 2 is Syrian refugees and host communities. The project will be implemented through integrated components:

  • Strengthening the expansion of existing social enterprises and the creation of new Social Enterprises and Social Enterprise Initiatives through capacity building, mentoring and financial support.
  • Ecosystem actors work to improve the framework conditions for SEs in Jordan by influencing policy and lobbying initiatives.

The project is being implemented through project consortium-based: Plan International Jordan (consortium lead), The Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN), JoWomenomics (JoWo) and Durrat AlManal (DMDT). PIJO and its partners will be distributing up to 122 grants. Through the granting and capacity building component, the project aims to support and grow 122 SEs, homebased businesses, start-ups and ideas, ensuring that along with receiving financial support, they have technical training and support to build their knowledge and capacities.

role PURPOSE

Plan International Jordan is seeking an experienced capacity building specialist with demonstrated knowledge and experience in youth economic empowerment programming, Social Entrepreneurship, community led economic projects and livelihood projects for vulnerable young people, the capacity building specialist is expected to provide technical support to his/her Mubaderoon 2 project team, partners and relevant colleagues.

Dimensions of the Role

The capacity building consultant will be based in Amman, and he/she will provide high technical support to project team and project partners, she/he will assure quality in the implementation of the trainings, ensure adequate implementation and coordination of the project, facilitate technical guidance, provide capacity building trainings, coaching and mentorship for project staff and trainers. Also, the consultant will work to build the capacity of the entrepreneurs and the social enterprises.

Accountabilities

  • Provide strategic and practical guidance for project team and trainers.
  • Provide and facilitate technical guidance, training, coaching and mentoring to project’s staff, trainers and partners in youth economic empowerment, business development, life skills and social enterprise set up and management.
  • Oversee project trainings and provide coaching for the trainers when needed.
  • Deliver and lead the training of trainers for project staff and trainers.
  • Participate in identifying, contextualising and/or developing curriculum, training materials and technical guidance.
  • Strengthen the partners, staff, and project trainers’ capacities and competencies through delivering the capacity building trainings.
  • Identify the most appropriate material for training purposes and initiate the development processes with a focus on strategy business planning, corporate governance and HR.
  • Develop the entrepreneurial content (strategy business planning, corporate governance and HR), prepare the training topics and presentations that will be used in the trainings.

Key relationships

  • The position holder will be reporting to the project manager.
  • The capacity building specialist will be working closely with the project team, partner organizations and project trainers.
  • The capacity building specialist will coordinate the work among the partners and she/he will lead the capacity building process alongside the partners.

Technical expertise, skills and knowledge

  • Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible professional experience in Youth Economic Empowerment sector. Additional demonstrated knowledge and experience in Social Entrepreneurship is an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience within relation with private sector, youth livelihood and business set up & development.
  • Proven experience in training material development, delivering ToTs and providing guidance for the trainers.
  • University degree in the field of Business, Social Sciences or another related field.an MA degree is an asset
  • Knowledge of business and income generating activities in the context of Jordan with clear understanding of related legal and policies frameworks.
  • Strong knowledge on sub granting (micro granting) mechanism.
  • Experience in youth economic empowerment, livelihoods development in humanitarian or refugee settings, community-based and social enterprise and community participation is an asset.
  • Good facilitation skills and ability to deliver induction briefing/trainings.
  • Ability to communicate and maintain appropriate and productive relations with a range of actors, including children, parents, local and national authorities.
  • Flexible work attitude and ability to work independently within.
