Main Purpose:

The External Relations Associate is responsible to support the external relations manager and the broader Corporate Affairs & ESG function, supporting on media monitoring, stakeholder engagement, conference participation and overall external communications activities.

 

Knowledge Skills and Abilities, Key Responsibilities:

 

Key Responsibilities

Undertake communications strategy work including stakeholder mapping, audience analysis
Generate third-party media coverage, including through dealing with media enquiries, building relationships with outside stakeholders i.e. journalists
Contribute to building their communications infrastructure, for example setting up or developing channels like a website and social media presence
Evaluate communications and media activities, assessing and demonstrating impact
Provides essential day-to-day logistical support for the External Relations work and team; including focused administrative support for the Head of Corporate Affairs and ESG.
Maintains all key External Relations tracking systems and databases, on behalf of the team; responsible for regular updating and reporting.
Supports in providing research – with emphasis in energy landscape analysis and institutional research, aiding the Corporate Affairs & ESG function as a whole.
Provides project and administrative support to the other members of the External Relations team
Assists with meeting and event planning (both domestic and international), including working with staff, consultants, and outside vendors to manage the full spectrum of meeting plans and travel logistics as needed.
Assists in the drafting of talking points and other multi-purpose communication, advocacy materials.

 

Requirements

Education:
Degree or equivalent in a subject relevant to Corporate Affairs or Business Marketing

Experience:
2-3 years’ experience in an external relations role including experience of working in Retail, and Employee Communications & Engagement Branding & Marketing would be an asset.
Experience in global organisations operating in Africa / emerging markets would be advantageous
