What will you be doing?
We are looking to set up a web site and a social media plan to
Having completed basic archiving the group wants to take the next step which would be to enhance and develop the resource
- Population Study including the families of the village, where they lived, what they did for work and where, what they did outside work.
- Economic History including the occupations of the residents, the mill, local farms, shops, the impact of the Rev Brandreth
- Environmental Study, the types of building in the village, the roads, farming including the field system and history of the moor
This would include
- A layered map of the village showing the buildings and development over the centuries but actual and virtual
- Online resource via website so that current residents and families who can trace their family history can find information, photographs as well as history of the buildings in village, who lived there, what they did for a living
- Collection of living histories from local residents including Mr Ray Hubbard
- A resource so to enable anyone to walk round the village virtually or on foot and understand the history of the working people and buildings of the village
- Open days to the public at the Reading Rooms (up to 4 a year)
- Nominated open days for groups e.g. for over 20 years the collection has been available for the use of the children at the Primary School but open up to other groups, students, interest groups
What are we looking for?
We would like someone with experience of any of the following
- writing a specification for a website
- designing and setting up websites including the pros and cons of each method of delivery
- would be set up social media – facebook, twitter, etc
- write a simple marketing plan and strategy
Have and interest in and experience one or more of the following
- social, agricultural, rural, industrial history
- genology
- run a history group or similar village group
What difference will you make?
It will enable anyone with an interest in rural life in the past so for example
Current residents and families who can trace their family history can find information, photographs as well as history of the buildings in village, who lived there, what they did for a living
Be a resource for anyone with anyone who is intersted in rural, industrial, agriculture or social history access information from just a general interest to those who are researching for example for academic reasons
