What will you be doing?
You will be working with a current team of 6 members of the Board of Trustees. Work is usually remote and most meeting are virtual. The occasional meeting may take place in Dauntsey Lock near Chippenham. We are looking for a candidate with the following skills
- A verifiable ability to participate in leading enterprises in a senior role as a key member of a management board in either commercial enterprises or charities
- The skills needed for public advocacy on behalf of an enterprise within a framework of multiple stakeholders
- The ability to conceive and promote new and improved ways of working to speed the delivery of the Trust’s objectives
- An ability, in concert with his/her fellow trustees, to recruit and motivate a Chief Executive Officer able to deliver the Trust’s declared objectives
- The skills in oral and written communication needed to motivate a largely volunteer organisation with over 2,000 members
- Proficiency in the making, debating and communication of high-level plans with one year and five year objectives
- The basic IT skills needed to perform the role.
What are we looking for?
Our ideal candidate for the role is someone who has an interest in some of the following canals, heritage, engineering, advocacy and will enjoy the challenge of restoring the canal for the benefit of the public, communities along the route, wildlife, conservation and biodiversity. A minimum of three years experience, as a Trustee, is required for this position.
