Support the BAs and Divisions in accessing the startup ecosystem, in the execution of equity investments and in selecting most attractive startups, to guarantee a high quality of deals and to accelerate ABB’s innovation pace.
Be a thought leader on technology trends, educate the business on long term disruptive Technology opportunities and game changing Business models, based on observations from the startup environment.
Challenge the business in the selection of startups, as well as with the term setting in deals. Screen, qualify, prepare, monitor, and execute deals to generate financial and strategic goals for the Group and manage the investment portfolio from the initial investment to an exit event.
Be the point of contact and an ABB ambassador in the Venture ecosystem.
Your responsibilities
Develop strategy for ABB Technology Ventures, align priorities with businesses, technology, and overall Group strategy, search for, evaluate and execute investments in early-stage energy technology companies with technologies of strategic interest to ABB on a global basis. Work with businesses and Corporate Strategy to align priorities and extract benefits from participations.
Build relationships with universities, incubators/accelerators, financial and other corporate venture capital funds, service providers (e.g., law firms, investment banks) and others in the venture capital ecosystem to identify and source investment opportunities.
Work with businesses to find investments of strategic interest to them, advise businesses on strategic implications of potential investments and interfaces with the businesses to maximize commercial value extraction from ATV investments.
Review all investment proposals received and works with the relevant businesses experts to explore interest or fit. Ensure the appropriate handling of the evaluation of investments over time and create exit or full acquisition strategies for these companies as appropriate.
Conduct, direct, and supervise full due diligence of potential investments. Oversee legal documentation and final closing of various rounds of financings (incl. debt, equity, etc.), negotiating critical Deal-Terms.
Serve on boards of ATV portfolio companies as non-executive Director and guides their growth.
Ensure close monitoring and steering of companies invested in by placing ABB representatives in relevant decision bodies/boards.
Actively participate in conferences and other forums to establish ABB brand as a value-add technology investor and innovator.
Utilize Venture Capital Fund Investments and VC Fund relationships to get access to Startups and Insights into the changing Technology landscape.
Your background
Experience dealing with negotiations in a venture fund or in a CVC (corporate venture capital) is required
Excellent communication and influencing skills in a multi-national environment with cross-cultural teams
Strong analytical skills
Proficient in English verbally and written. Other European languages a plus
