THE ROLE
ZayZoon is on a path to 3x our business by the end of the year! We know that that won’t be possible without scaling our team the right way. The Accountant is responsible for assisting in the business’ day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and efficiency, which play a key part in maintaining controls around risk as we grow. This role has exposure to a wide range of accounting functions including but not limited to, reconciliations, partner communications, assisting in corporate activity related to treasury, grant accounting, and assisting in preparation for year-end audits. A unique aspect of this role is the interaction across functional teams to help resolve account issues. The Accountant is a key player in helping to resolve customer account discrepancies quickly and allows this role to make a true impact externally. This role reports directly to the Controller, making it an excellent learning opportunity with plenty of room to grow!
Just a few of the exciting projects we have on deck include:
diving deep into data to optimize the repayment reconciliation process; bridging the gap between Excel, external reporting, and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
optimizing the revenue share process through automation; this is a key function owned by this role and an opportunity for you to really run with things
working with senior leaders (CFO, VP Solutions Architecture, Controller) to implement a one-of-a-kind automated matching tool for bank reconciliations
implementation of an expense management tool including change management to roll out use by the team at large, and integration between our ERP, credit cards in both U.S. and Canada, and expense tooling

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Complete high-volume partner and bank reconciliations to quickly resolve differences
Act as a key point of contact with payroll partners and cross functionally to resolve customer account discrepancies
Administer partner calculations, payments, and reporting
Optimize reporting of reconciliations, processes, and reporting
Prepare expense reports and process accounts payable
Perform day to day accounting functions including preparing journal entries, maintaining continuity schedules, and accounting for corporate activities such as bank transfers
Track grant revenue and expenses
Understand and maintain accurate data within ERP (Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central)
Assist in preparation of year-end supporting documentation
Assist with analysis of key financial accounts and investigations, preparing ad hoc reporting as required
Assist with other team projects and key initiatives

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
2-3 years of progressive accounting experience
Fundamental knowledge of IFRS
Experience in full cycle accounting with an ability to identify and understand non-recurring accounting issues and assist with solutions for non-routine transactions
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills – comfortable in functions required to create and work with pivot tables, look and match functions; strong understanding of absolute and relative referencing, use of macros for repetitive tasks
Experience with larger ERP systems; ideally Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
Computer savvy self starter with an ability to learn new tools quickly – you aren’t afraid to dig deep into a new feature or tool on your own
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
BONUS POINTS IF YOU HAVE:
Experience in a high growth, scale-up organization, preferably in the tech environment
Experience using Power BI, Metabase, or similar BI tools
