The switching team focuses its research on advanced solutions for circuit breakers, load switches/disconnectors, and contactors in modern power supply chains. We innovate the market to meet dynamically evolving power grid requirements challenging from the standpoint of sustainability, reliability, and performance. Together with ABB development units we advance the sector of power products towards new generation devices.
This 6-month internship focuses on supporting the low and medium voltage switching research team in experimental tasks. These include hands-on work in assembling and troubleshooting the pressurized equipment, development of novel concepts for low/medium voltage switchgear and prototyping with 3d printing. In the second part of the project the intern will join the experimental team in laboratory tests of the developed solutions.
Your responsibilities
Participating in designing of novel concepts for low and medium voltage switchgear
Building prototypes
Executing experimental tasks with ABB research team
Evaluating experimental results and performing data analysis
Your background
Officially enrolled student in applied physics, electrical/mechanical engineering or related subject (advanced B. Sc. or M.Sc.)
Hands-on experience in experimental work in a lab
Proficiency in CAD software or willingness to learn it
Ability to work in a large research team
Fluency in written and spoken English
