The PCS Development Pathology Group is searching for a highly motivated and self-driven candidate to supervise technical and regulatory aspects of a busy GLP-compliant histology laboratory and conduct laboratory functions including histology techniques (i.e., tissue processing, slide preparation, and staining) and/or specialized techniques (e.g., immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, and/or digital pathology/image analysis) as needed.
Supervises resources and personnel (i.e., technical and scientific direction) and assists in planning of resources within the Histology Laboratory in accordance with PCS needs.
Understands and maintains GLP compliance of histology laboratory and act as Quality Assurance contact for the histology laboratory.
Supervision of operations, equipment, and technical resources in the histology laboratory.
Assurance of training of all technical personnel in the histology laboratory in accordance with applicable AbbVie regulatory policies and standards.
Proficiently performs all required technical duties which can include routine histology techniques and/or specialized techniques.
Interacts with external groups to communicate possible areas of concern or potential opportunities for improvement.
Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system in the histology lab.
Ensure proper documentation and archiving of all data generated.
Provide the Histology Lab manager with directional input.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education required
Minimum 5 years of experience with routine and specialized histologic techniques required
Minimum 3 years in GLP environment
HT(ASCP) or HTL(ASCP) certification preferred
Experience in immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, and/or digital pathology/image analysis is desirable.
Extensive knowledge of regulatory requirements.
Demonstrated skills in written and oral communication including good working skills using word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software.
