This position is located in the Director of Human Resources (DHR) Office. The intern will report to the HR Officer, DHR Office and may work from home.

Therefore, internship candidates should be prepared to telecommute (telework) from their current place of residence. The internship is for 3-6 months depending on the needs of the office.

The internship is UNPAID and full-time.

The intern’s role will be to assist DHR’s office in various HR and Administrative functions. Responsibilities • Support implementation of special projects where the HR Department is partnering with other departments. This involves conducting background research on best practices to propose HR inputs, developing communication materials as well as monitoring and keeping track of priorities and progress of these projects in collaboration with other departments/stakeholders. • Support preparation of communication materials required for HR activities with various internal and external stakeholders to the HR Department. • Support in coordinating various HR department meetings including preparation of agenda and/or programs, draft and keep records of meeting minutes as needed. • Manage and monitor DHR master calendar to ensure coordination of proper meeting and event scheduling through MS TEAMs. • Support the monitoring/updating of the HRD intranet site. • Coordinate any upcoming travel arrangements for DHR upon guidance from the Admin Officer. • Conduct surveys and analyze the results and prepare report. • HRD event support including HRD Retreat, and any other events organized by DHR’s office.

Work Experience

No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship. Be computer literate in standard software applications is desirable Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views is desirable Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter is desirable. Fluency in spoken and written English is required Languages Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory. This is an unpaid internship opportunity. No travel is required as the placement is sought on a remote working basis. All costs connected with an intern’s participation must be borne by the intern. Microsoft Word and Microsoft Teams will be required software for the intern. Interns are responsible for negotiating course credit with the law school for independent study/intern credits where feasible. At the stage of acceptance of an internship placement, interns must prove to the satisfaction of UNRWA that they have adequate medical and accident insurance coverage prior to commencing the placement. Intern placements shall not constitute employment by UNRWA.

Interns are considered to be complementary personnel with non-staff status.

The purpose of the internship program is not to lead to further employment with UNRWA but to complement an intern’s studies. Therefore, there should be no expectation of employment at the end of an internship.

Interns are eligible to apply as external candidates for UNRWA staff vacancies in accordance with normal selection procedures. UNRWA is a non-smoking environment.
