Our Analysts are the future leaders of our Investment Bank! This is an opportunity to join a highly motivated and extremely active Natural Resources team that delivers a comprehensive suite of investment banking solutions to various global energy sub sectors (oil & gas, renewables, and infrastructure). Our Analysts are self-confident, highly motivated, reliable and have strong team spirit. You will assist and guide our Analysts in performance of their work and provide core support in the origination of new business. This role will be based in Houston, Texas.
About Us
Our Natural Resources team is part of the Investment Banking Coverage department within Global Banking. We offer financial and advisory solutions that support critical strategic events in a company’s evolution (e.g. an acquisition, divestiture or an IPO) and / or where our clients wish to raise funds from investors in the capital markets or loan markets to support their operations and fund growth (e.g. a bond issuance or equity raise). Our clients are both traditional corporates, financial and public sector institutions and financial sponsors (e.g. private equity and sovereign wealth funds).

Employment eligibility to work with HSBC in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.
Required Skills
Here’s what you might expect on a typical day:
Financial Skills: You would utilize your strong Excel skills to develop valuations of companies, including but not limited to creating model projections, using trading and transaction comparables, discounted cash flow analysis, LBO analysis, merger modeling and oil & gas specific valuation models. Analyze a company’s capital structure. Prepare and defend credit applications for event-driven financings.
Communication Skills: Assist in the preparation of PowerPoint presentations and other materials for clients. Assist with the coverage of priority corporate and financial sponsor clients where you would exhibit professional and personal presence; actively participate in internal and external discussions; present well-developed and delivered narratives to colleagues and clients. Draft marketing memoranda for sell-side assignments; developing equity story or credit story depending on securities raised.
Deal Management/Execution Skills: Actively participate on deal teams to ensure that transactions are completed both in a timely and effective manner. You would interact with product and country teams, clients and various levels of management, while acting as an integral part of the deal team
Client/Colleague Skills: Demonstrate your capacity to build a network of contacts, both internal and external, in the context of interactions with colleagues to support the creation of solutions to client needs.

Series 63, and 79 FINRA licenses must be active within 120 days of the start date.
