Here in North Charleston, SC, Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC is writing an exciting chapter in Daimler’s history as we add the first U.S. van production plant for the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, in addition to our existing assembly operation for Sprinter and METRIS vans. This position will allow the team member to gain insight to the workings of a business and the manufacturing process. This internship will expose the team member to all levels in the organization to assist in building a resume that will allow the team member to become competitive in the job market.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the IT Manager, the IT Intern provides the best possible support by assisting with all aspects of production and helping to ensure that the department runs smoothly.

Assist with new system implementations for the MBV Plant Expansion
Process and System Landscape documentation
IT Demand Management Support
IT Procurement Support
IT Security Support
Assist with project coordination

Qualifications

This position requires a minimum of a high school diploma. Working towards a 4 year degree in IT (Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or equivalent) is required to participate in the intern program.

Applicants should be eager, driven, focused, hard-working individuals that are ready to assist a growing company with heavy production demands. He or she should be willing to learn and be taught skills from experienced members of the team. The individual should be self-motivated and interested in adding value and making a difference within an organization.

Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC (“MBV”) is a plant in Ladson, South Carolina that assembles Sprinter vans for the U.S. market under the brands Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner. The midsize Metris van was added to the assembly line in 2015.

Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC announced in March 2015 that it will invest $500 million in construction of a new Sprinter production plant, in addition to an expansion of existing operations. In July 2016, MBV officially broke ground on the site of its new plant, located next to existing operations in the North Charleston area. The MBV facility will provide up to 1,300 jobs by the end of the decade.

More than 112,000 Sprinters have been assembled in North Charleston and delivered to destinations in the U.S. since 2006. The U.S. is now the second largest market for Sprinter vans, after Germany.
