To maintain and repair a range of electrical and mechanical plant and equipment* in ASDA stores as defined on the “Scope of Works” in an efficient and cost-effective manner, whilst complying with the laid-down Company Health and Safety policy.

• Although not an exhaustive list, this is likely to include bakery and catering equipment, HVAC systems, compactors, lighting and other static and portable electrical equipment, systems and circuitry.

Principal Accountabilities

• To represent the company in a professional manner at all times and develop a good working relationship with City and ASDA colleagues.
• To complete the PPM schedule within agreed timescales and to ensure all necessary paperwork is completed accurately and to the laid-down procedures.
• To respond promptly and positively to service call requests from the Helpdesk and to assess the requirements of the job and carry out repairs as and where necessary.
• To prioritise maintenance and repair work to achieve agreed timescales and response times.
• To order spares to the laid-down procedures.
• To identify non-repairable faults in plant and machinery and promptly advise the manager of findings, with recommendations regarding suitable replacement.
• Where plant and equipment is non-repairable, to make recommendations to the Facilities Manager regarding suitable replacement.
• To advise the GSM of any repair and maintenance issues that are likely to affect the smooth running of the store.
• To manage the attendance of subcontractors and assist ASDA Management in the appraisal of subcontractors’ performance.
• To carry out surveys and complete reports as required by the Facilities Manager.
• To carry out minor alterations and installations within the individual’s technical competence in accordance with current specifications.
• To complete general repairs and maintenance to ASDA store sites as designated by the Facilities Manager, e.g. repairs to the building fabric, shelving or point-of -sale signage.
• To assist ISTs in other areas when requested to do so by Manager.
• To ensure all tools and equipment necessary (as per company tool list) to complete maintenance and repairs are available and serviceable at all times.
• To liaise with project teams on store alterations, modernisations and other relevant works.
• To maintain accurate Time Sheets and Mileage Logs as required.
• To attend training courses as and where necessary and to ensure personal job skills keep pace with technical developments.
• To comply with the company Health and Safety Policy at all times.
• To work with company and ASDA colleagues to ensure laid-down standards of quality are maintained at all times.
• To comply with any other reasonable request or instruction from the Facilities Manager
