Who we are?

IDA is an international independent non-governmental organization providing medical and humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflicts, natural disasters and epidemics regardless of race, religion, gender or political affiliation. IDA was founded in 2012 by Syrian doctors from Aleppo in response to the healthcare and humanitarian crisis in Syria.

IDA Syria is the main healthcare provider in the Northern Aleppo/Syria area, working closely with 500,000 IDPs and 700,000 host communities through 20 healthcare facilities and other health and nutrition projects

During last year, IDA has provided 1.2 million services in Heath, Nutrition, WaSH and Camp Management

Responsibilities:

Project Management and implementation:

  • Oversee the implementation of all Protection programming, including programme quality and budget management across all field sites;
  • Undertake regular on-site visits to monitor the quality of activity implementation at the field-level and provide technical advice to field project staff as necessary;
  • Ensure the relevance and implementation of technically sound beneficiary selection criteria and approaches;
  • Support IDA offices in strengthening information management, including standardized databases for protection and planning purposes;
  • Support donor reporting by providing accurate and timely input on protection activities.
  • Develop protocols and guidelines for protection activities and mainstreaming and train/coach staff to understand and implement, including strong integration and cooperation with the team.
  • Participate in the staff recruitment process, new staff onboarding and induction process, capacity building, and performance appraisal of Protection staff;
  • Invest heavily in the skills and competencies of field teams – the Protection manager will provide hands-on coaching, guidance and technical support to programme staff, ensuring clarity over programme plans and priorities.
  • Create and design recreational activities, including PSS and SEL-focused activities for both beneficiaries and staff.
  • Supervise case management and referral pathways technically, and mentor staff implementing GBV & CP activities
  • Ensure that child protection and GBV programs are mainstreamed, and all staff members are informed on safeguarding policy.
  • Produce timely internal reporting in line with donor requirements.
  • Ensure community participation during the implementation through appropriate mechanisms to address the needs of the most vulnerable categories.
  • Liaise with donors and other implementing partners to ensure appropriate coordination of interventions and avoid overlapping activities. This will include attending meetings, workshops, and any other required sessions.
  • Manage and implement operational project plans based on a plan submitted to donors.

Finance, Procurement and Administration:

  • Accountability for the management of Protection programme budgets (budget holder), with support from the Finance Manager and Head of Support Services
  • In cooperation with the logs/procurement team, ensure that all relevant purchase orders are well prepared and submitted by providing all required BoQs and technical specifications to maintain the best level of provided services/supplies.
  • Ensure HR policies are followed, including completion of regular Performance Management Meetings, with all Protection staff;

Reporting:

  • Report the protection project’s activities to the line manager with adherence to donors’ requirements and reporting formats considering the deadlines.
  • Participate in protection cluster reports, data collection, and reporting projects’ activities through the 4Ws submission.

Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning:

  • Monitor protection risks and needs in project sites on a regular basis in alignment with project requirements.
  • Collaborate with M&E team to ensure monitoring activities are mainstreamed with protection and ensure the protection of vulnerable groups while gathering appropriate and accurate data on protection outcomes;
  • Develop internal learning and appropriate program adjustments due to new opportunities/challenges;
  • Lead the development of Protection assessments, with support from the Grants and MEAL Manager;
  • Work closely with the team to support the development of accountability activities, ensuring compliance with CHS.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher education in Law, social sciences, education, child protection, early childhood development, or relevant field of study.
  • At least 3 years of NGO work experience in field-based protection.
  • Excellent proven technical knowledge of the field of protection.
  • Knowledge of protection standards and guidelines.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to coordinate with multiple parties and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent reporting skills.
  • Good experience in project development and proposal writing.
  • Excellent English and language skills (spoken, written, and reading)
  • Hard-working, proactive, and able to prioritise and delegate tasks.
  • Eligible to work legally in Turkey
  • Complying with PSEA policies
