Emergencies and disasters affect the deepest places of an individual’s livelihood. As An Emergency Response Program Manager in Bunia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, you will have the opportunity to reach and bring hope to those deep places of need, specifically in managing and providing oversight of Food and Non Food items. Most importantly, you will address the insecurity, fear, and desperation with the hope of the Gospel working in Jesus Name.

A day in the life of an Emergency Response Program Manager:

In the role of Emergency Response Program Manager, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him
  • Direct and oversee the Food and NFI sectors of the BHA funded program within given budgets and project deadlines, ensuring that all Food and NFI objectives are met through proper planning, staffing, and implementation.
  • Organize and direct the work of Food and NFI sector staff, providing supervision, training, and performance appraisals. Discern, manage, and report critical physical, emotional, or spiritual concerns of supervised staff.
  • Establish and maintain effective project reporting, evaluation, and communication systems in collaboration with the M&E Program Manager.
  • Submit timely, accurate, and professional program reports that meet SP and donor requirements.
  • Ensure project activities comply with international and SP standards and meet USAID rules & regulations.
  • Manage project budget within approved spending levels and ensure accurate and timely financial reports to donors and to appropriate SP DRC and IHQ staff.
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; or a minimum of 1 to 2 years’ related international work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to coordinate and manage staff and project activities.
  • Proven working experience with international NGOs in management of complex international cooperation projects, funded by institutional donors like USAID/BHA, UNWFP, OCHA, UNICEF, ECHO.
  • Knowledge and experience in NFI and Food distribution
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-cultural contexts
  • Previous professional experience in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) or contexts similar to those in the DRC
  • 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies

Language Requirement: Fluency in English (required); French and/or Kiswahili strongly preferred

Accompaniment: Family Accompaniment

Travel Expectations: Regular visits to field sites
