EORE Officer

Shareateah Humanitarian Organization (SHO) is an Iraqi National NGO promoting safety & development through mine action and explosive ordnance risk education (EORE), for the benefit of communities affected by armed conflict. Founded in 2016, SHO has organized and executed programs throughout Iraq, including the provinces of Nineveh, Duhok, Kirkuk, Tikrit, Anbar, and Baghdad. It currently has offices in Duhok, Mosul, and Anbar. 

Shareteah is an independent non-governmental organization & civil society organization, affiliated with the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, and authorized by the NGO Department in Baghdad (1l1708033) & Kurdistan Region (K3230), Iraq. 

Tasks & Main Responsibilities:

• Conduct RE in targeted communities following the operational plan as prepared by the EORE Team Leader.

• Train key people in the communities to become RE trainers.

• Function as an interviewer during assessments of targeted communities.

• Function as a data collector in targeted communities.

• Function as a community liaison between stakeholders/actors.

• Maintain good communication with partner organizations.

• Maintain good relationships with other mine action interventions in the area including those involved in the survey, marking and clearance to ensure good coordination and shared knowledge.

• The EORE shall be prepared to participate in on-going training before and during the operational phase:

  Basic MRE course;

  Course on specific Methodologies and tools;

• Any other relevant training as planned by the SHO.

Position Requirements:

• Prior experience from working with an NGO is an asset.
• A university degree preferably in sociology/social sciences/teaching.
• Minimum 1 year’ Experience in MRE.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Fluency in Kurdish and Arabic.
• The candidate should have IKMMA Certificate.
