Job Summary

The Programme Support Office will be based at our Luton site supporting aftermarket programmes for both our Civil and Defence business lines. The incumbent will report to the Head of MRO, Customer Support and Electrical Systems, the role will require flexibility for national and international travel to attend site visits and customer meetings and there is flexibility for occasional working from home dependent on the needs of the business. The Programme Support Officer will support the day to day programme operations of the business and be responsible for the administration and activities associated with control and monitoring of progress, scope, cost and resource management within the programme, the programmes supported will include Hawker, DAHER, Fokker and Ancillaries. The role will also require an element of CSO activity (order book loading and management) and the incumbent will be the direct interface with Customers and Operational sites.

Established in 1993, GKN Aerospace in Luton is a world leader in commercial and military ice protection systems and transparencies. Offering a full range of capabilities; design, analysis, testing, certification and manufacture of electro-thermal ice protection, military fast jet canopies and flight deck windows to over 20 programmes including: Boeing 787, Dreamliner, Airbus A320, AgustaWestland, AW101, Eurofighter Typhoon and Lockheed, Martin F-22 Raptor. Our customers include Boeing, Airbus, Lockheed Martin, Bell Helicopters, Textron, BAE Systems, Pratt & Whitney, Leonardo. Our Luton site is home to 400+ employees and onsite facilities including onsite parking, canteen, vending machines and showers.

Job Responsibilities

  • Compile and follow up work breakdown structure (WBS), organization breakdown structure (OBS), and cost breakdown structure (CBS) schedules and plans for the programme
  • Control and monitor progress, scope, costs and resource management and allocation for the programme
  • Based on analysis, initiate improvements and recoveries on on-time delivery (OTD) and quality (Q) from Customer Scorecards and delivery schedule adherence in close collaboration with the responsible disciplines
  • Prepare and maintain the customer outlook for budgeting purposes
  • Prepare the demand for operations including required performance measures and preparing the handshake agreements with the performance site
  • Support Risk and Opportunity Management activities managing the risk register to control and mitigate the risk exposure
  • Establish and control robust document management in the IPT and towards/from the customer
  • Support creation, coordination and delivery of (change) proposals to customer requests
  • Prepare and analyze the Programme Performance Summary (PPS) initiating actions in case of deviations

Essential

  • Level 3 qualification such as a Diploma in a relevant discipline such as Business or Project Management
  • Significant project or programme support experience gained from a manufacturing environment
  • Experience of order book management
  • Experience of change control
  • Experience of delivering against KPI’s in terms of quality, cost and scheduling
  • Experience of performance reporting

Desirable

  • AMP – PMQ qualification
  • Aerospace industry experience
  • Experience of building business cases based on cost data
  • Experience of contract management including terms and conditions
