HVAC Commercial Technician

To maintain and service all aspects of the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in two, large, state-of-the-art research facilities – Bioengineering and Sciences Building (BSB) and the Natural Sciences & Engineering Research Laboratory (NSERL). Maintain VAV boxes, heating water hydronics, chilled water controls, and automated control systems.

Minimum Education And Experience

High school, GED or Trade School education; degree helpful. Must be a qualified Commercial HVAC Service Technician with a minimum of five years of experience with commercial HVAC systems. Possess State and Federal EPA certification. Ability to perform HVAC troubleshooting with commercial systems. Must have experience working on VAV boxes and have understanding of automated control systems. Exhaust experience helpful and understanding of Energy Management systems.

Preferred Education And Experience

Vocational/Technical Diploma or some College/Associate Degree

AC&R Safety Coalition Certification R-410A

Requires EPA Universal Certification

Experience in a higher education or laboratory environment, 1-3 years.

Experience working with VAV boxes, 1-3 years.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Maintain and service all aspects of the heating, ventilation, and air condition systems in Research Facilities.

Troubleshoot problems working on commercial HVAC systems and assist in maintaining systems.

Support and assist other trades.

Work with other trades, such as Electrician, HVAC, when needed.

Responds to after-hours call-out and other duties as assigned.

Ability to interact successfully with co-workers and supervisors.

Additional Information

Repairs and maintenance must be performed on campus.

May be required to report to on-site work location during campus closure.

May be required to report to on-site work location during inclement weather.

Mandatory Testing And Daily Health Check

In order to combat the spread of COVID-19 all UTD Faculty, Staff, and Students are required to:
