Product Electrical Engineer

Job Summary & Responsibilities:

Provide technical leadership in the development and production design for the Power Systems Product Group. Responsible for coordination of all technical activities required for design of assigned products. Assigned products include, but are not limited to, Generator Control Products, Low Voltage Electrical Switchgear and AC/DC Motor Drives. Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates assigned engineering tasks. Monitors design for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices, and standards. Ensures the product design meets the customer specifications, and that the product produced functions as designed.

Typical Duties

• Assure that assigned product engineering tasks are completed on schedule
• Generate and check engineering drawings and BOM’s
• Interface with the customer to achieve designs compatible with their needs.
• Generate internal testing procedures, FAT procedures, and spare parts lists
• Provide on-site manufacturing facility support during prototype and product construction, system testing and customer witnessed Factory Acceptance Testing
• Generator Control Device / Protection Relay Programming and support.
• Provide start-up and commissioning support to Field Service groups. Some travel required.

Essential Functions

• Accountable for the successful completion of engineered product projects
• Assist in preparation of engineering project proposals
• Participating in Client meetings to assist in resolving Client product or project issues
• Provide support to sales/marketing, manufacturing, testing, & commissioning group
• Assure that NOV ISO 9001 Quality System Procedures are followed throughout the design stage of the product
• Participate in and lead continuous product improvement efforts
