Front End Engineer: User Essentials (Remote, EMEA)

What We Do

The User Essentials squad operates at the core of the Grafana open-source project and our mission is to create a foundation that allows users to efficiently achieve their goals and that is easy for others to build their frontend experiences on. We’re a frontend focused team and we work closely with Product and UX to define our goals and build our solutions.

These are some of the projects we’re currently working on or planning to do so:

• Big cross-team initiatives like improving the accessibility of Grafana or globalization
• Improve the navigation and the information architecture of Grafana
• Drive our Design System in collaboration with UX

We embrace experimentation, lean principles, and encourage everyone to share their ideas and perspectives.

We Look For Team Mates With The Following Skills

• You are comfortable working in a remote-first company; communication is key.
• You enjoy working as a team. For us, working together means being collaborative, friendly, kind, and respectful.
• You have experience as a Frontend developer. We are a small team, working remotely, on a product that will be used by engineers all over the world – the ability to work on your own is crucial.
• You know how to transform ideas into working code – you are able to design a solution, get feedback, and write a prototype by yourself.
• You enjoy learning and like a challenge – Grafana is a highly technological solution and has avid followers who rely on it every day and care deeply about their workflows.
• You enjoy being part of the community. Community is part of our core, and interacting with the community is a day-to-day thing for us.

What We Use In The Frontend

• We work with React as our framework, Typescript, Redux, and RxJS
• We use Storybook to communicate internally and externally (e.g plugin developers can see what the component library looks like and offers)
• Emotion is our choice when it comes to styling, but there’s some SASS around too
• Webpack is our current bundler
