Who we are looking for:

Due to our continued growth, Woodard & Curran is offering a unique opportunity for a highly motivated Legal Assistant to join our fast-paced Legal Department. You will assist and provide administrative and general support to the Legal team in the delivery of legal services to the Company and internal clients. Responsibilities include assisting in the preparation of various legal documents and correspondence; supporting contracting, licensing, and insurance matters; assisting with the overall management of legal and corporate matters; supporting outside counsel engagements; and handling legal invoices and expenses.

To be successful in this role, you will need to be flexible, self-motivated, and practice complete discretion with confidential and sensitive information.

The role is preferably based out of Portland, however, hybrid or other geographies may be considered.

What will you be doing at Woodard & Curran?

  • Provide administrative and general support to the Legal team.
  • Assist in supporting with the Company’s licensing and contracting, including the detailed and accurate mark-up of contracts, and issuance of Company templates and other contract documents. Provide support for the issuance of certificates of insurance.
  • Support the attorneys with the handling of legal matters, including information/data management and coordination.
  • Support outside counsel and oversee payment and tracking of legal invoices. Assist the Legal Team with expense reports.
  • Prepare various legal documents, including contract templates and legal correspondence.
  • Assist in implementation and maintaining of Legal policies and procedures.
  • Administer the conflict of interest check process.
  • Provide as-needed support with the filing of corporate and business licensing documents.
  • Maintain and update the Legal Department’s SharePoint site.
  • Organize and maintain the Legal Department’s files and information, including in electronic filing system and Microsoft 365 environment.
  • Provide other various administrative support to attorneys and other members of the Legal team.
  • The list of duties is not intended to be all inclusive and other duties may be assigned as needed.

What you need to succeed:

  • Associate’s Degree required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Two-plus years of directly related experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365, including but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc. and experience with redlines and comparisons.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
  • Must be organized and flexible, detail oriented, have initiative, and able to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive Company information.
  • Use independent judgment surrounding internal and external client matters.
  • Notary Public a plus, or willing to pursue.
