JOB SUMMARY

Supports the organizational mission and vision by contributing medical editorial expertise to the Examinations Department. Reviews all exam items to ensure correctness and appropriateness in style, grammar, spelling, clarity, and format. Makes appropriate recommendations to ensure compliance with current style manual guidelines. Adhere to and support the values and cultural framework developed by the Examinations Department.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reviews and edits exam items for style, grammar, spelling and clarity (multiple rounds of review, including a quality control review) to ensure accuracy.
  • Collaborates with internal teams to ensure review and editing of items is done according to timelines and production schedule. Reviews, edits, and fixes raw material of items as the initial step before sending to the content development team. Supports utilization, maintenance, and updates to style guide.
  • Provides editorial expertise to review, edit and proofread reports, scientific papers and journals, newsletters, PowerPoint presentations and other department documents to ensure quality and consistency with style guide as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelor’s in English, Journalism or related fields required
  • 5 – 7 years of technical editing and proofreading experience
  • 5 – 7 years of medical terminology/medical editing experience required
  • Knowledge of AMA style
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology preferred
  • Extremely detail oriented, thorough, and accurate
  • Experience supporting and maintaining the integrity of style guides/manuals
  • Editing experience with computer-based exams preferred
  • Computer Skills: Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity interacting with multiple databases
