SIR is a 501(c)(6) professional association that supports more than 8,100 interventional radiology physicians, trainees, medical students, scientists and clinical professionals. SIR is also comprised of SIR’s 501(c)(3) Foundation, which focuses on research and fundraising to advance the future of interventional radiology. Together SIR and SIR Foundation have nearly 50 staff, combined annual revenues of $12.6 million, and assets of nearly $17 million.

Position Summary:

In this new role, the Director, Business Technology will support SIR’s growth by creating and executing the business technology strategy. The ideal candidate will possess the necessary technical expertise to manage, identify, and solve problems related to the association’s business operating systems and work closely with team members to serve as a trusted resource and technical leader. Solid business relationships skills will with vendors and external partners will ensure SIR’s technology investment is optimized. This position will report to the Sr. Director of Finance and Administration and will manage the Sr. Database Analyst position and direct all business technology activities with our third-party network service provider.

The Director of Business Technology will also work with the Leadership team in implementing the strategic plan and ensuring that IT resources and activities are aligned with the goals and objectives of the Society and the Foundation.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Business Technology Strategy

  • Development, modernization, and implementation of SIR’s core business technology strategy for all aspects of office network, database, and web infrastructure, including design, purchasing, installation, configuration, and administration of all SIR business technologies.
  • Develop and implement an e-commerce strategy
  • Develop an understanding of business priorities and needs and lead cross-functional teams as a player-coach to implement and maintain required enhancements of the AMS and reporting infrastructure to achieve business goals and objectives
  • Develop an understanding of business priorities and needs and coordinate the implementation of recommendations from ongoing AMS assessment project; which include upgrade and development of a BI infrastructure to support the organization’s complex reporting needs.
  • Provide support and administer SIR App development and licensing for (Apple/Android Accounts)
  • Serve as a strategic technology resource on SIR and SIR Foundation clinical data registry projects. Serve as the technology bridge between project staff, registry vendors, and participating sites.

BI and Data

  • Develop and implement policies to ensure data integrity in all SIR systems including the implementation of a new data warehouse (Business Intelligence Platform)
  • Develop and maintain a cohesive strategy related to key business applications including the use of AMS and the curation of data within a business intelligence platform
  • Work with senior leadership teams and Sr. Database Analyst, to ensure the development of KPIs and dashboard reports that track performance and guide business decisions.
  • Perform rapid online testing and data analysis to create insightful and actionable findings.

Project Management

  • Work with key staff, tech support vendors, and external third-party vendors regarding design enhancements, bugs, and upgrades of all external and internal applications, including the AMS and business intelligence platforms.
  • Work with the Business Technology Team to ensure the Society’s business technology infrastructure supports the needs of the organization.

Secondary Functions and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of the capital budget to ensure it includes the proper technology support for staff activities
  • Ensure IT security reviews and audits are complete, and recommendations are implemented
  • Serve as lead project manager and collaborate with other senior management team members to facilitate clear communication and accountability among all departments of SIR concerning society projects and initiatives.

Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficient in networking equipment and methodology including Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Exchange, SonicWALL firewall, wireless networking, and internet
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Windows operating systems.
  • Proficient with administering an AMS and lead in the development of business intelligence platforms.
  • Proficient with Business Objects products including Web Intelligence, Crystal Reports, Universe Design tool, Dashboards, and Widgets.
  • Familiar with the administration of SQL databases.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills are required.
  • Ability to quickly learn new systems, technology, and methods
  • Working knowledge of relational databases and advanced knowledge/programming experience with SQL and Crystal Reports.
  • Understanding of content management systems, e-commerce solutions, and Microsoft Dynamics SL accounting software.
  • Demonstrated project management skills and the ability to manage multiple, changing priorities.

Education/Certification:

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
  • Project Management Certification preferred.

Experience:

  • Experience managing Personify or a similar AMS (Association Management System) or CRM.
  • Minimum 10 years experience in database and network administration.
  • Experience with database design, validation, operating systems, database maintenance, and reporting.

WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Small, fast-paced open office environment with moderate noise levels. Use of phones and computers for extended periods of time. Utilize office equipment and communication technologies for conference calls and teleconference meetings/webinars. Requires general mobility to move through the facility. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Frequent interaction with internal staff and physician members/board via phone, in person, email, and other mediums. Normal sitting and standing activities for an office environment. Some travel primarily for Annual Meeting. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, SIR is allowing its staff to work remotely on a temporary basis.
