Pastoral Leader

United Learning

Seahaven Academy is a small 11-16 school serving the community of Newhaven and surrounding areas. Following a recent inspection by Ofsted in November 2016, the school has been judged as ‘good’ in all areas. The school has a spectacular position in very modern buildings above the coast, within easy reach of Eastbourne and Brighton.

At Seahaven Academy we have a very simple ethos: be ambitious, be determined, be the best! We have very high expectations of our students and of ourselves and are proud to be committed to fulfilling the United Learning mission of bringing out ‘the best in everyone’.

Our school is a vibrant yet calm environment in which students can fulfil their ambitions. We ensure that classes are disruption-free so that learning time is not wasted. We ensure students have every opportunity to be supported and extended when they most need it. We place a huge emphasis on literacy as the key to the wider curriculum. We enthuse, encourage, motivate, convince and cajole our students to be the best they can be. We underpin all our work with the very best student support and pastoral care. Seahaven Academy is a small school with big ambitions and very high expectations. We expect our students to be leaders and drivers in our pursuit of excellence. Please do come and visit us and see how our ambitions are transforming our school.

About The School

Seahaven Academy is a very proud community, with really big ambitions and incredibly high expectations for all our students. We whole-heartedly believe in our United Learning motto: ‘the best in everyone’.

Our recent inspection confirmed we are a ‘good’ school in all areas with a track record of strong outcomes for our students. We are unapologetically ambitious for every child, no matter what their background, prior attainment or needs. We provide all our young people with the challenge and support they need to achieve their goals to enable them to lead happy and fulfilling lives. We strongly believe in ‘Education with Character’ and want our young people to look back on their time at Seahaven as an education which has inspired and rewarded them and prepared them for the ups and downs of life.

The strength of relationships between students and staff is second to none, and we know that we can make a real difference to our students’ lives. Add to this a vibrant atmosphere, a stunning cliff-top location and excellent facilities and it is easy to see why we feel so passionately about our academy and the work we do at Seahaven.

United Learning

Seahaven Academy is part of United Learning, a large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England.

Our schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. Our subject specialists, our Group-wide intranet, our own curriculum and our online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resource, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance.

As a Group, we can reward our staff better: with good career opportunities, better pay, benefits, and ultimately, the satisfaction of helping children to succeed. We invest in our staff wellbeing. Our academies each have at least eight INSET days per year (with three of those solely dedicated to planning), and an ongoing group-wide wellbeing programme. It’s an ethos we call ‘the best in everyone’.

We are working hard to become a more diverse organisation – which is key to our commitment to bringing out the best in everyone. We welcome applications from everyone committed to this ethos and would particularly welcome applications from black and minority ethnic candidates, who are currently under-represented in the Group as a whole. We always appoint on merit. We are open to discussing flexible working options.
