Responsibilities:
Advise Swiss Re Group and its Business Units on all legal aspects of capital markets and financing transactions, including derivatives, securities lending, capital, liquidity management, and related regulatory matters, particularly under Swiss law. Provide legal support to the Group Asset Management division on investments across various asset classes, with a focus on real estate and private equity, including negotiating mandates with external asset managers and handling related regulatory issues. Actively contribute to shaping Swiss insurance regulations related to capital markets activities, lead and support group-wide internal projects, and assist in broader Legal & Compliance initiatives.
You will have regular interactions with the General Counsel Corporate Center & Group Functions, the Heads of Capital Markets, Finance and Asset Management, Swiss Re Senior Management and other core clients.
About The Team
Based in Zurich and reporting to the head of the Capital Markets Finance Legal team (7 team members). Part of your role will also be providing assistance to the Capital Markets Asset Management team (11 team members).
This dual role allows you to cover two largely inter-linked legal areas where the teams already collaborate closely.
The two teams are truly international, including US, UK, Singapore and Swiss qualified lawyers. Team members are located in Zurich, New York and London.
About You
Law degree with honors and admission to practice (Swiss qualification required; additional US or UK qualification preferred). Minimum of 3 to 5 years of significant international legal experience in corporate, financial, and securities law, gained in a top-tier law firm and/or a renowned financial services organization. Fluent in English and German. Strong ability to identify and report legal risks, provide expert advice, and apply sound judgment beyond legal regulations; excellent drafting, negotiation, and influencing skills. Trusted business partner with effective relationship management; communicates legal and compliance concepts clearly and succinctly, takes ownership of outcomes, and delivers practical solutions.
