At Carbagas AG and Air Liquide Austria, we are searching for an enthusiastic, empathic, open minded, result driven, experienced leader for the position of Chief Financial Officer to join our common executive management team of high-performing professionals and keep our finances positioned for continued success. Since the scope of work covers both businesses across two countries, the position will be based in Bern, Switzerland.
The CFO will have a day-to-day, ongoing impact on company operations, helping us to analyze, strategize, and grow our financial position. As a member of the executive management team (Austria / Switzerland), the CFO will be comfortable in a leadership role that requires clear and effective communication skills.
How you contribute and grow
- Take responsibility (either directly or via staff) for all cash management, investments, insurance, budgeting, and financial reporting, and help drive the company’s financial strategy and hiring needs
- Coordinate development of annual operating, capital, and program budgets, as well as reporting for the same
- Ensure cash flow is compatible with operations by overseeing day-to-day accounting, recording, reporting, and internal-control activities of the organization
- Develop and implement best practices and tools to ensure a well-controlled yet flexible organization that has strong fiscal management, project coordination, cross-team communications, and workflows
- Comply with national and local financial requirements by studying existing and new legislation and taking appropriate action
- To act as a general counsel coordinator via inhouse (AL Group) or external law firms that the company minimize its legal risks by advising the company’s other officers and board members on any major legal and regulatory issues the company confronts, such as litigation risks
Your key responsibilities
- Work with senior managers of respective entities and business lines to efficiently develop budget proposals, provide access to project finance information (commercial offer reviews, efficiency projects or other), and ensure contract/grant compliance and reporting
- Research revenue opportunities and economic trends, analyze internal operations, and identify areas for cost reduction and process enhancement
- Perform risk management through analysis of company liabilities and investments, and evaluate and manage capital structure and fundraising initiatives
- Monitor business performance with tracking tools, establish corrective measures as needed, and prepare detailed reports for earnings calls, management team, and rest of company
- Compliance and Internal controls
- Manage finance personnel and oversee financial IT systems, ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory entities (ex: Financial Accounting Standards Board, Internal Revenue Service, state attorneys general)
- Provides legal advice to the company’s executives and management on various legal issues affecting the business, as well as provides legal advice in contract negotiation, risk management, due diligence, etc.
Your profile:
- Master’s degree (or equivalent experience) in accounting, business accounting, or finance
- International finance experience
- Professional certification (ex: Certified Public Accountant)
- Strong implementation-oriented leader with steadfast resolve and personal integrity, who identifies and uses the individual strengths and potential in the team.
- Experience in executive leadership roles in an international group environment
- Exceptional verbal, written, and visual communication skills
- Understanding of advanced accounting, regulatory issues, and tax planning
- English (must), French and/or German – business Professional Working Proficiency or Full Professional Proficiency
