Position Title: Communication Assistant

Location: Mogadishu and travel to field sub offices in SWS and Galmudug state Somalia

Job Description

The Communication Assistant plays a pivotal role in advancing New Ways’ communication strategy, ensuring effective internal and external communication. Based in Mogadishu with travel across sub offices in SWS and Galmudug state of Somalia, this role involves managing social media platforms, crafting compelling content, designing reports, and showcasing project impacts.

• Contribute to the implementation of communication action plans and strategies.
• Stay informed about program developments to prepare reports, briefings, and other necessary documentation.
• Develop communication materials for internal and external use.
• Create graphic content, including videos, social media visuals, and scripts.
• Capture and present project activities and events on various platforms to raise awareness and highlight achievements.
• Document human-interest stories and success stories for external communication.
• Develop and execute strategies to enhance New Ways’ media presence.
• Translate documents between English and Somali.
• Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Communication, Journalism, English Literature, International Relations, or a related field.
• Minimum of three years’ experience in public communication or field operational communication.
• Certification in communication techniques such as photography and videography.
• Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in IT and digital communication tools.
• Ability and willingness to travel extensively within Somalia.
