Tasks

• You work directly with leaders in the Engineering and Business Development teams to identify and evaluate new technologies to define the strategic Technology Roadmap and drive future business growth
• You lead screening, designing, installing and evaluation of concepts for new and innovative products and manufacturing processes thereof with the goal of handing over to the Engineering and Operations teams for industrialization
• You search for technical solutions, design experiments, evaluate concepts, sketch and draft components, purchase and install prototype hardware, validate and verify proof of concept device functionality and present and report results to stakeholders
• You collaborate with internal and external service providers and stakeholders and extract relevant information for an efficient and accurate realization of the tasks given
• You create intellectual property and contribute to stable technology management
• You inspire team members to strive for alignment, entrepreneurial thinking, and high performance

Requirements

• PhD/MSc/BSc degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, photonics, mechatronics, physics or equivalent
• Industry experience in product development and manufacturing, preferably in optics, mechanical engineering or consumer electronics industries
• Product design (design thinking), simulations and programming experience (Comsol, Python, Solidworks, Altium) are of advantage
• Creative and analytical thinking, with a broad and interdisciplinary spectrum of interests, well organized, autonomous, open-minded for challenging ideas
• Get-it-done and fail-fast mindset to quickly eliminate concepts that are not feasible and focus on those that are
• Communicative hands-on “maker” person, with a pragmatic and entrepreneurial mindset
• Good knowledge of English and German language
