The Duty Manager for the ski hotel opening will assist in the successful launch and daily operations of the hotel. This role will support the Hotel Manager in overseeing staff, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, and maintaining operational efficiency during the critical opening period and beyond.

What will you do?

1. Pre-Opening Support:

  • Assist in setting up operational systems, processes, and procedures for various departments.
  • Support the Hotel Manager in recruiting, hiring, and training staff.
  • Participate in pre-opening activities, including test runs, soft openings, and initial marketing efforts.

2. Operational Management:

  • Oversee daily operations, including front desk, housekeeping, food and beverage, and ski-related services.
  • Ensure smooth functioning of all departments, addressing any issues promptly.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, safety, and service throughout the hotel.

3. Guest Relations:

  • Provide exceptional guest service, addressing and resolving guest complaints and feedback in a professional manner.
  • Assist guests with special requests and provide information about the hotel’s amenities and local attractions.
  • Coordinate and enhance guest experiences, including après-ski activities and personalized services.

4. Staff Supervision:

  • Supervise and support hotel staff in their daily duties, ensuring adherence to service standards.
  • Conduct on-the-job training and provide continuous feedback and coaching to staff.
  • Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork and employee engagement.

5. Multilingual Communication:

  • Utilize fluency in English and, if applicable, German and/or French, to communicate effectively with a diverse guest base and staff.
  • Assist in translating and interpreting for guests and staff as needed.

6. Financial Management Support:

  • Assist in managing budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
  • Monitor financial performance and suggest cost control measures.
  • Support revenue management efforts through effective pricing and inventory management.

7. Coordination with Ski Resort:

  • Liaise with ski resort management and local businesses to ensure seamless operations and guest experiences.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining packages and promotions in conjunction with the ski resort and other local attractions.
  • Monitor weather conditions and assist in preparing the hotel for changes that may affect guests’ ski plans.

8. Health and Safety:

  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, including those specific to ski environments.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and support training sessions for staff.
  • Implement and monitor emergency procedures, particularly for winter-related incidents.

What do we look for?

Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

Proven experience in a supervisory role within a hotel or similar environment, preferably in a ski resort or seasonal hotel.

Fluent in English; proficiency in German and/or French is highly valued.

Strong leadership and team management skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Financial acumen and experience with budgeting and financial reporting is a plus.

Knowledge of ski industry and resort operations is desirable.

Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, especially during the ski season.
