RFP and invitation to bid for SEAH Investigator Qualification Training Scheme (IQTS) Translation Services

Background

With generous support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), CHS Alliance, in partnership with Humentum, is strengthening the global capacity to respond to sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment (SEAH) in the humanitarian and development sector. Our goal is to equip new investigators with the critical skills and knowledge to undertake survivor-centered investigations by using a standardized, high-quality approach to investigating allegations of SEAH. A fundamental aspect of this training involves providing the course materials, marketing collateral, and additional supporting project content in multiple languages. The language service must be able to translate contextualized to the content.

Prospective translation services are required to include the following information in their proposal:

1. Applicant information

• Company name
• Key contact name
• Address
• Phone number
• Email address

2. Description and suitability highlights

• Previous experience in technical content translation
• In-house peer review
• Ability to translate French and Spanish are essential
• Expertise is required in translating narratives, blog content, and related materials to ensure communications resonate with Spanish and French speaking audiences

3. Learning familiarity

• Prior experience with translating learning content is advantageous

4. References

• Two references related to translation work
• Sample translated content shared from previous clients

5. Sample request

• To assess translation quality, tone, and readability, we will provide a sample IQTS blog to be translated into French and Spanish. Access the sample material here. To achieve this, the samples require a human-translated approach, allowing us to evaluate your ability to capture the nuances of our content.

Timeline

• Deadline to discuss/submit questions: Thursday, July 18, 2024
• Deadline for proposals submitted digitally: Wednesday, July 24, 2024
• Selection of top suppliers: Wednesday, July 31, 2024
• Successful bidding supplier will be notified: Monday, August 5, 2024

Scoring criteria

All proposals that submit all documentation as required under the administrative information will be scored against the following criteria:

Criteria and maximum points awarded

• Ability to translate in Spanish and French – 10
• Experience translating technical content – 10
• Experience translating content related to SEAH or difficult circumstances – 5
• Ability to translate content in multiple formats including PPT Slides, Word documents, Images – 10
• In-house peer review – 5
• Total Score – 40

Humentum reserves the right to accept or reject any or all proposals, and to accept the proposal deemed to be in the best interest of Humentum. The award criteria shall be based on the proposals overall while taking into consideration the above scoring criteria. The award will be determined and signed off by the finance team and senior leadership at Humentum.

It establishes a standard for professional development and career progression for investigators. The training provides participants with the knowledge, theory and practical skills required to conduct SEAH investigations.

Target audience
