Here’s where you come in:

World Vision seeks a Gender, Youth, and Social Inclusion Lead (GYSI Lead) for the proposed Leader with Associate Award for technical implementation of the USAID Sahel Regional Resilience Activity (SRRP LWA). The Activity will strengthen individual, household, and formal and informal institutions and networks to deliver improved natural resource management and the adoption of sustainable agriculture practices. The SRRP aspires to achieve increased food security, income generation, water and sanitation and hygiene, climate adaptation, nutrition and improved conflict mitigation, and enhanced community resilience. This activity is a 5-year program worth approximately $200 million, with the leader award of $35M ($20M for rapid response programming).

As the GYSI Lead, you will ensure that the social dimensions of food security and community resilience are effectively addressed across all activity components and at all levels throughout the entire award period. Attention to social dynamics—in particular, gender and youth integration—is critical to realizing intended outcomes.

This position is contingent upon funding and donor approval and will be based in Dakar, Senegal.

Requirements include:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant academic area—e.g., a social science discipline or related a concentration from an accredited U.S. college or university, or international equivalent.
  • A minimum of 7 years of progressively experience in international development as a Gender and Youth Advisor or a GYSI Advisor on large ($30M+) food security, development, or humanitarian relief projects of which at least 3 years of experience working in fragile or post-conflict states. Somalia experience strongly preferred.
  • In-depth understanding of gender, age, and other locally significant socio-cultural factors in the context of food security programming, and a demonstrated capacity to lead the collection, analysis, and utilization of information from a broad range of sources.
  • Experience working with migrant communities and in an urban context.
  • Must be fluent in English.
