Org. Setting and Reporting
• Supervisor and Technical Guidance received:
The incumbent of this post is responsible to Field Disease Control Officer and receives overall guidance and supervision from Deputy Chief, Field Health Programme.

• Supervisees and Technical Guidance provided:
The incumbent of this post provides technical guidance to all medical officers on the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases.

Responsibilities
• Undertakes regular visits to UNRWA health centres according to a rotating working schedule in order to examine, treat and follow up on patients referred to him/her by Medical Officers;
• Maintains records of all patients with cardiovascular diseases and other patients referred to him/her at each health centre and provides statistical data and relevant information on such patients to the Field Office;
• Plans and directs the in-service training of Medical Officers on the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases;
• Maintains an effective system of referral to, and feedback from, contracted and government hospitals treating refugee patients;
• Ensures that equipment and supplies are maintained and techniques are performed in accordance with standard Agency procedures;
• Performs other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor(s).

Education
• A university degree in medicine from a recognized university including an internship of at least twelve-month duration.
• Advanced degree in internal medicine specialty.

Job Specific Qualifications
– It is required to have a valid license to practice medicine as Internist in the country of duty station (where applicable).

Work Experience

• You are required to have a minimum of six years’ progressive related experience in internal medicine after obtaining the university degree in medicine.

Languages
– Excellent command of spoken and written English and Arabic.

• The incumbent is required to travel frequently in the field and area of operations.

General Information:

• This vacancy notice is open to external and internal candidates. Only candidates residing in Jordan, and within commuting distance of the duty station with authorization to work in the duty station at the time of application are eligible to apply.

• Since the Vacancy is an Area Staff post, the Agency will not provide coverage for relocation costs.
