Overall responsibilities:

The Tax, Trade and Digitalisation Coordinator will coordinate PSI’s trade, tax and digitalisation campaign and activities in the Asia Pacific region, including project management and reporting to donors, affiliates and governance.

All work will include a focus on engaging young workers and advancing gender equality.

Tasks will include but not be limited to:

Campaigns coordination

  • Develop trade, tax and digitalisation campaign strategies for the Asia Pacific region.
  • Identify and develop strategic organising opportunities.
  • Coordinate the Unions for Trade Justice network in the region.
  • Monitor trade, tax and data policies at the national level in targeted countries, at regional level and global level in relation to digitalisation.

Finance and Administration

  • Oversee project funds and maintain required project administration in compliance with PSI and sponsors’ rules.
  • Prepare the financial reports of the project.
  • Prepare reports for donors and PSI governing bodies.

Capacity building

  • Identify and develop union activists.
  • Plan, develop and deliver training to union staff and activists.
  • Develop capacity building tools for affiliates and union activists and support their implementation.

Awareness, Communication and Representation

  • Coordinate campaign andcommunications materials.
  • Organise and mobilise affiliates around priority issues.
  • Coordinate research andpublications
  • Develop andmaintain relations with key allies andcivil society, andco-ordinate joint action.
  • Represent PSI to affiliates and in other fora where necessary.

The list of defined tasks is not exhaustive. Other tasks may be assigned by the Regional Secretary for the Asia and Pacific Region.

Supervision:

The position reports to the Regional Secretary for the Asia and Pacific Region

Key Functional relationships: (to be developed)

Selection criteria:

Qualification

  • A degree in social sciences, economics, labour studies or equivalent experience.

Knowledge and Experience

  • At least 5 years’ experience ofproject and campaign coordination within thetrade union movement, civil society or equivalent at the regional level
  • Strong project management skills, including narrative reporting, budgeting and financial reporting;
  • Organising and capacity building experience.

Ability to conduct and coordinate research for advocacy purposes.

  • Network coordination skills and ability to coordinate a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience drafting timely, accurate reports for internal and external accountability.
  • A strong understanding of the political economy of the region especially as it relates to international trade rules, tax and digitalisation;
  • Knowledge of trade unions and their priorities in the Asia Pacific region.

Language skills

  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
  • Fluency in another regional language is an advantage

Travel:

  • Ability to travel across the region.
