Summary Of Major Responsibilities
The Supervisor, Logistics is responsible for prioritizing and coordinating daily activities of specimen returns. This role will be the main point of contact for day-to-day activities, empowered to make decision that impact daily operations and acts as an advisor to the team to meet schedules and challenges onsite. The Supervisor, Logistics will directly interface with various degrees of expertise within Logistics and Distribution, Supply Chain Operations and Clinical Laboratories.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Ensure daily shipments have been processed and picked up by transportation carriers.
- Coordinate clinical specimen materials returns such as blood, tissue blocks and slides or other sample types and or materials required to support clinical laboratories .
- Utilize a strong sense of business acumen and ability for developing teams and modeling teamwork culture.
- Establish and implement corrective and preventative actions through continuous improvement initiatives; including, but not limited to, leading projects on cross-functional teams.
- Communicate cross-functionally to investigate, research, and resolve all exceptions promptly.
- Effective communicator that understands when to escalate with management, key stake holders in internal or external environments, in timely manner.
- Manage supply of packing and shipping materials required to execute import and export shipments.
- Maintain packing and shipping areas in a clean and orderly manner.
- Maintain morale and support employee engagement initiatives.
- Ensure that shipments are not delayed/held by Customs
- Knowledgeable in the basic requirements for compliance, participates in required training on regulatory issues and brings regulatory compliance questions and issues to the attention of management.
- Follows related compliance training and takes responsibility for safety in the workplace.
- Notifies management of observed hazardous conditions or unsafe practices.
- Ability to develop and maintain shipping/receiving metrics (i.e., Ontime delivery, Avg days late, order accuracy, capacity planning).
- Supervise staff; including, but not limited to, organize and prioritize work, write/conduct performance reviews, train/develop, and manage work performance.
- Communicate goals clearly to employees to ensure understanding and success in achieving them.
- Motivate and inspire employees to do their best work through coaching.
- Maintain morale and support employee engagement initiatives.

- Ability to work nights and/or weekends, as needed.
- Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 50% of a typical working day.
- Ability to work on a computer and phone simultaneously.
- Ability to work seated for approximately 50% of a typical working day. Ability to work standing for approximately 50% of a typical working day.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds for approximately 10% of a typical working day.
- Ability to grasp with both hands; pinch with thumb and forefinger; turn with hand/arm; reach above shoulder height.
- Ability to comply with any applicable personal protective equipment requirements.
- Ability to use near vision to view samples at close range.
- May be exposed to hazardous materials and tissue specimens.
- Ability and means to travel 10% between local Exact Sciences locations.
- Ability to travel 10% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in logistics or a field related to the essential duties of this role or a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 4 years of experience in a field related to the essential duties of this role in lieu of.
- 5+ years of experience in a logistics role.
- 3+ years of experience in direct or indirect leadership.
- 2+ years of experience handling international import/exports
- Demonstrated knowledge of customs document requirements.
- Strong proficiency in IATA, DOT and Cold chain, UN-packing for shipping.
- Strong proficiency of UPS, FedEx, and DHL systems for domestic and international shipments.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in handling human specimens; FFPE blocks, slides, HEME samples, fresh tissues is plus.
- IATA Certificated and knowledgeable in DOT.
- Demonstrated experience in Cold chain packing and shipping .
- Strong knowledge of FDA, USDA and CBP import/export compliance.
