Here is how the Sr. Financial Analyst role will impact our business:

The Sr Financial Analyst is responsible for all aspects of the lease operating expense and various other month end close journal entries and analyses. The position will act as a liaison between production accounting and key operational departments to maintain an open line of communication and identify accounting implications from ongoing operations. Responsibilities include preparing monthly journal entries, analytical expense reviews, general ledger reconciliations, and execution of SOX controls. The ideal candidate for this role is an individual of high energy and motivation; someone who can get excited about the business, work in a fast-paced and highly collaborative team environment to effectively lead and drive change, and is comfortable working with, manipulating, and interpreting large data sets.

The Sr. Financial Analyst responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Prepares various month end closing journal entries
  • Reconciles general ledger accounts monthly
  • Assists in the monthly financial statement analytical reviews and uses knowledge of business to analytically understand trends
  • Performs analysis of actuals vs. plan, forecast, and prior year in collaboration with operations departments in order to accurately identify route cause of variances
  • Participates in Sarbanes-Oxley testing and proposes control enhancement to improve processes
  • Act as accounting department representative in weekly meetings with operations departments to obtain understanding of current operational activities and accounting implications
  • Coordinate monthly expense accrual process including analytical reviews
  • Prepare organized, clear, and concise documentation of routine processes to enable continued evolution and process improvement
  • Identify areas of improvement and leverage technology to automate and improve processes
  • Ability to gain an understanding of a various business processes from initiation through completion
  • Assist with maintaining JIB allocation groups and ensuring appropriate data structure is maintained and adhered to within LOE related accounts
  • Perform other ad hoc analyses and assist with internal projects as requested by managers

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a closely related field
  • 2+ years of relative work experience
  • Knowledge of financial and accounting principles
  • Self-starter with the ability to quickly grasp and assess business goals and financial issues
  • High level of respect for corporate ethics and internal controls
  • Strong proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Familiarity with analytical tools (Alteryx, Power BI, etc.)
  • Proficiency with handling large data sets and drawing conclusions from analysis
  • Good communication skills both verbally and written
  • Strong attention to detail
