Background

The Anglican Development Services-Kenya (ADS-K, serving as the development arm of the Anglican Church of Kenya, has been instrumental in fostering social transformation. ADS K in its ongoing peace-building efforts in Baringo and Marsabit, recognizes the critical role that faith leaders play in community healing and resilience. Acknowledging the prevalence of trauma in these regions, ADS Kenya is seeking a qualified consultant to conduct a 3-day training program for 40 faith leaders. The primary goal is to equip these leaders with the necessary skills to effectively manage trauma and facilitate healing within their communities.

Objectives

The consultant is expected to achieve the following objectives:

a. Provide in-depth training on trauma identification, management, and healing strategies tailored to the cultural context of Baringo and Marsabit.

b. Empower faith leaders with practical skills to support individuals and communities experiencing trauma.

c. Foster a cascading effect by training faith leaders to become resource persons who can share their knowledge within their respective communities.

Scope of Work

The consultant’s responsibilities include:

a. Conducting a thorough needs assessment to tailor the training content to the specific context of Baringo and Marsabit.

b. Developing a comprehensive 3-day training curriculum covering trauma awareness, management techniques, and healing strategies.

c. Implementing interactive and participatory training sessions that incorporate case studies, role-playing, and group discussions.

d. Providing guidance on developing action plans that faith leaders can implement within their communities.

Deliverables

The consultant will be responsible for producing the following deliverables:

a. A detailed and culturally sensitive training curriculum on trauma management and healing for faith leaders.

b. Training materials, including presentations, handouts, and supplementary resources.

c. Pre and post-training assessments to measure participants’ knowledge and skills development.

d. A comprehensive report summarizing the training sessions, including feedback and recommendations for future initiatives.

Duration and Schedule

The consultant is expected to complete the 3-day training in each county The training sessions will be conducted in Baringo and in Marsabit.

Qualifications

The ideal consultant should possess:

a. Proven experience in providing training on trauma management and healing.

b. Familiarity with the cultural context of Baringo and Marsabit.

c. Strong facilitation and communication skills.

d. Experience working with faith-based communities and leaders.
