Service Delivery Coordinator – Ambulance Support
Location: Williamstown, Tonypandy, Wales
Hours: 35 hours per week mostly days to meet the requirements of the service.
Contract: 6 months fixed-term (Maternity Cover). Possible extension.
Salary: £20,501 per annum plus an on-call allowance.

We have a fantastic opportunity to join the British Red Cross Ambulance Support Team.**

You will co-ordinate a designated number of Ambulance Care Assistants to enable and provide support to the staff and volunteers involved in delivering high quality care to patients, in partnership with the Welsh Ambulance Service Trust.
In this role you will have particular responsibility to provide administrative and practical support to the Ambulance Care Assistants in Wales in support of the Ambulance Support Operational Lead – South.
The post is responsible for the day-to-day operation and deployment of the Red Cross vehicles and Ambulance Care Assistants.
You will ensure that all operational ambulances are maintained at the highest standards.
About the Team

We have a fleet of approximately 100 vehicles of varying specifications across the UK and we are constantly reviewing these to ensure that they are current and meet the requirements of our services and service users. Our fleet and equipment is comparable with those deployed by NHS services and we have recently introduced bariatric patient transport capability in some areas.
Ambulance Support services are delivered by staff and volunteers, trained to provide patient transport, from various bases across the UK. Our services are directly managed by dedicated teams led by Service Delivery Managers, supported by Coordinators and, in some instances, Team Leaders. A national leadership team oversees our service performance, quality and development.
About the person

We are very interested in receiving applications from candidates who feel they meet the following criteria;

  • Full manual driving licence
  • Knowledge of staff and/or volunteer supervision
  • Good working knowledge of spreadsheets, email, web-based and word processing software
  • Ability to work on own initiative or under instruction from others
  • Organisational skills – planning and monitoring own workload
  • Experience of delivering high quality services to the public within a regulated framework e.g. CQC
  • Fully participate in the national 24-hour on-call structure as appropriate, including taking part in a regular roster, and flexible approach to working hours
  • Able to work and travel extensively throughout the area on a regular basis as appropriate, and more widely in the UK as required.
  • Knowledge of clinical standards and infection control with regard to quality standards
  • Previous experience in a similar role highly desirable.

The closing date for application is the 9th March with interviews to take place week commencing the 14th March.
This role includes working face to face with service users and social distancing will not be able to be maintained at all times therefore, it may not be suitable for people that may be at higher risk of harm from Covid-19.
