The role will provide a key Medical Affairs function within the medical and the wider cross functional team at national level. The Senior Medical Advisor inherits deep scientific knowledge which enables the medical team to operate with highest standard of medical excellence, ensures onboarding of new colleagues and supports delivering of KPIs. The role leads in advisory board planning, medical education, and review. It creates a knowledge base for internal as well as external stakeholders, leads in cross functional working groups and has a lead advisor function for the local/HUB leadership team. The Senior Medical Advisor ensures highest compliance and ethical standards within the affiliate.

Additionally, this role will also provide a leadership function for clinical research and development. The Senior Medical Advisor and clinical study lead, will develop and execute clinical study programs (local and regional),

support clinical operation teams and function as a key project lead for investigator-initiated research:

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all clinical trials conducted in Switzerland (Phase 1-4 internal and investigator initiated/sponsored ISS)
  • Responsible for good clinical practice as well as communication with external agencies, Swissmedic, Swiss ethics and FOPH if required
  • Organize Advisory Board meetings and scientific workshops and if relevant give scientific presentations related to the brand and therapeutic area
  • Develop the X-functional pre-launch, launch and post launch plan with a focus on medical affairs and specifically data generation and development
  • Educate and train relevant medical/clinical stakeholders
  • Adapt or create relevant materials for training and education
  • Keep high knowledge by reading relevant literature and attending congresses to be able to be a peer-topeer counterpart of external experts
  • Career development path: Head of Medical Advisors, Medical Lead LOC, or progress to clinical study team above country or regional medical role as well as CMD succession

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Minimal 2-3 years research/medical experience in an academic setting or clinic/hospital
  • Pharmaceutical industry experience (2-3 years medical advisor or general medical affairs)
  • Experience in a role successfully engaging and effectively communicating evidence based medicine in scientific exchange with external experts.
  • Team player, networker
  • Proven planning and organizational skills, multitasking
  • Excellent oral and writing skills and fluency German and English (French/Italian if applicable)
  • Flexible thinking and oriented to continuous improvement and driving changes across cross functional stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Medical Degree (MD), Scientific Degree (PhD), Post Doc Experience
  • Experience in conduct of clinical trials (GCP certification, course completion)
  • Excellent knowledge in the Swiss regulatory framework (FOPH, Swissmedic)
  • Effective communication skills and ability to tailor information to different audiences appropriately.
  • Effective networking and collaboration skills to achieve business results.
  • Launch experience from a medical perspective and within cross functional team
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills such as presenting at national or international congresses or strong history of previous working with external experts.
  • Ability to translate complex science into simple messages.
  • Solid grounding in clinical, medical and pharmaceutical science with the ability to rapidly assimilate specific and detailed knowledge in these areas.
  • Strong business mindset and ability to balance cross-functional objectives.
  • A sense of curiosity and a passion for continuous learning and development
