Pictet Group

Your team

Pictet Alternative Advisors (PAA) is a leading alternative investment specialist and wholly owned subsidiary of the Pictet Group, with expertise in hedge funds, private equity and real estate. With staff based at offices in locations around the world , the PAA teams construct, manage and advise on portfolios of alternative investment solutions for institutional and private clients.

The Group has ambitious development plans for PAA in the coming years, in particular to expand its product offering into additional asset classes and to further develop its institutional client base. In view of these developments, Pictet Alternative Advisors is looking to hire an Operational Due Diligence Analyst.

You will join a dynamic, cross-assets team of five operational due diligence specialists and contribute to the development of a successful team. The position is based in Geneva, and you will report to the Head of Operational Due Diligence.

Your role

  • Organising operational due diligence assignments on external fund managers, including hedge funds, private equity funds and real estate funds.
  • Assessing the strength of a fund manager’s operational infrastructure, including corporate organisation and governance, personnel, IT infrastructure and cybersecurity, compliance and conflicts of interest, internal controls pertaining to trading transactions, cash, valuations and counterparty risk.
  • Identifying, evaluating, monitoring and reporting on operational risk factors associated with existing and potential investments.
  • Benchmarking against peers and industry best practices.
  • Engaging in discussions with C-suite personnel.
  • Building partnerships with fund managers and making recommendations for improvements.
  • Forging strong working relationships within functional teams across PAA, especially the investment management teams.
  • Developing and sharing knowledge, as well as keeping abreast of market developments, industry trends and regulatory matters.
  • Contributing to ad hoc projects.

Your profile

  • Master’s degree in Business/Economics, Finance or Science. Additional certifications such as CFA or CAIA would be a plus.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of asset classes, financial instruments, alternative investments and operational processes.
  • Four to seven years’ relevant experience, preferably within the alternative investments industry or with a Big Four accounting firm.
  • An analytical mind, sound judgement and the ability to show professional scepticism.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy are natural attributes.
  • Able to form relationships easily and present your ideas in a clear and compelling manner.
  • Excellent command of English, allowing you to interact, challenge and negotiate with native counterparts.
  • This role will require you to be flexible and travel whenever required to do so.
  • You must be resident in Switzerland or willing to relocate.

As a strong team player, you will be highly motivated and proactive. In addition to showing enthusiasm, you will be rigorous in your approach to your work. One of your priorities will be to add value to the investment teams in their fund selection. As well as being well organised and able to multitask, your capacity to work to tight deadlines will be key to your success.

You are looking to join a fast-growing company and work in an intellectually challenging environment, in a role that provides an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to and insight into a broad range of asset classes, fund strategies and operating models.
